Bringing the State and industry to the same table

A call for a plan that works on the water

During the discussion, participants highlighted the need for a comprehensive and operationally applicable plan that ensures effective protection of the marine environment without undermining the competitiveness of Greek marine tourism, a sector of strategic importance for the Greek economy and for high-value-added tourism.

The Secretary General of Ports, Port Policy and Maritime Investments of the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Insular Policy, Mr. Kyriazopoulos, responded to a series of questions and outlined the Ministry’s policy framework regarding marine parks and anchorage issues.

Particular emphasis was placed on the importance of institutional cooperation and the active participation of professional bodies in shaping related policies, with the aim of ensuring a framework that combines environmental protection with sustainable development and functionality for the industry.

The dialogue continues, with a joint proposal to the State

Continuing the institutional dialogue on marine parks and anchorages, at the initiative of the Greek Yachting Association, a meeting of representatives from industry associations and organizations was convened on Monday, May 18, 2026, aiming to formulate joint proposals to the State.

The meeting took place at CEO Clubs, within Flisvos Marina, with the participation of the Greek Marinas Association (E.MA.E.), the Association of Greek Tourist Boat Owners (E.P.E.S.T.), the Association of Owners of Crewless Professional Tourist Boats (S.I.T.E.S.A.P.), the Panhellenic Association of Professional Tourist Day-Cruise Boats (P.EN.E.T.I.S.), and the HYCA crew association, among other bodies representing the sector, with the shared aim of shaping a dynamic regulatory model that reflects the specific characteristics of Greek marine tourism.
